Lymphoedema is a condition when you have developed chronic swelling for more than 3 months when your lymphatic fluid cannot return to the lymphatic vessels either after a surgery when lymph nodes have been removed, radiotherapy, infection, genetic insufficiency of lymphatic system suddenly triggered by a trivial trauma/procedure/medical condition.

Lymphoedema can happen in any body parts, commonly in arms or breast post breast cancer surgery with axillary dissection or clearance, or scrotal or leg swelling post prostate surgery with groin dissection. The key to management of lymphoedema is early detection. The earlier you detect lymphoedema and get it managed, the easier you can stop it progressing and the better chance you can reverse the situation.
