Rectal balloon biofeedback training is an assessment tool that a gut focused pelvic floor physiotherapist can use to assess patient’s rectal sensation/sensitivity, pelvic floor muscle function to different rectal volumes, pelvic floor flexibility and defaecation technique. It can also be a very useful treatment tool for improving flexibility to pelvic floor muscles, retraining rectal sensitivity, retraining pelvic floor function and teaching defaecation dynamics. At Lymph and Floor Physio, our therapist will discuss with you at your first consultation about the best timing doing the rectal balloon biofeedback training during your rehabilitation journey, if this is deemed necessary for your condition. The timing for this training differs for everyone.
